▼ People gathered just outside of the Crusade Academy in Los Angeles, California expecting an announcement of sorts. There was a black modern podium with expensive finish out front, complete with the ‘Crusade Academy’ logo resided on a black colored plaque, the logo itself raised in white. The Media surrounded the podium, everywhere as far as the eye could see there was a camera lens (video or otherwise) trained on the podium. After a few minutes in all his infamy Ryan Cavallari appeared after a brisk from the incredibly large build behind him, he seemed rather adamant about his decision to discuss certain matters when it came to the Crusade Academy. As always the ever eccentric Canadian was dressed in a way only he could pull off. His wardrobe was high fashion meets professional, with a lot of black and white. In more detail he wore a white dress shirt that looked had to be a several thousand dollars if not more, while being accompanied by leather slacks and really nice white high fashion boots. The only support of the boots being huge black zippers that kept the shoes molded in place. Of course, his signature aviators adorned his face as he looked somewhat somber at the cameras placed in front of him.
“Ex Ignis Et Ultio…” Uttered across Cavallari’s lips while cameras seem to flash the moment he spoke, as if anything around him didn’t matter at that certain point in time. “In Fire and Vengeance. I know you’re wondering, what’s that supposed to mean? It means everything.” There was a brief pause form Cavallari allowing that to sink in before he continued on speaking “First I’d like to thank each and every one of you who’s a member of the media for coming out, allowing me the chance to make my intentions with the Crusade Academy known. Secondly, I’d like to also take this time to announce that I won’t be answering any questions.” Cameras seemed to ignite instantly, as if he was dealing with the paparazzi. Those crooked vultures, always finding ways to invade people’s privacy.
“I know it’s been a year or two since my groundbreaking announcement in opening the Crusade Academy. Not long after it was set to open, you the media, found out that I was affiliated with a certain program started by Lance Hawkins that goes by the name ‘ACE’ as all you know they’ve got in place the board of directors, the head trainers, and the rules and regulations to make ACE one of the best promotions ever seen…” Again Cavallari paused his eyes seemed to tell the story of someone who was deadly serious in his approach, even if it wasn’t clearly written through his fingers that drummed against the side of the podium like so. “Crusade Academy’s only intention while being affiliated with ACE is to produce and represent only the best in today’s modern athlete. My dedicated staff and I are looking to accomplish nothing short of perfection. We want to bring to you the world’s best, some of the brightest minds to exist in our industry in a very long time. Our intention is to not only establish dominance in ACE but to also make a run at being one of the best camps out there, bar none.”
There was a certain enjoyment established while making his opening statement. Ryan found himself standing in front of the world so to speak with a stern look upon his face that rivaled even his father’s. He had little to no interest in allowing the other camps to beat him to the punch, he never was seconded in anything nor would he be casted aside so on and so forth.
“It has come to my attention that certain peers of mine are also taking part in the promotion, Scott Barnett and Monroe just to name a few. For years now they’ve prided themselves on being the utmost best at what they do, they’ve found ways to revolutionize the sport in ways some of us only can imagine. So you can only imagine my initial reaction to the reaction of the public the moment I had announced my inclusion, I was met with swift judgment and overlooked in credibility as any sort of wealth of knowledge. For as many of you who think they know how they’re minds work, they’ve pretty much put together quality camps to be afforded rivals, and with peers this cutthroat who needs actual enemies?” Ryan’s stern comment seemed to sting the media in such a way that they were drawing him to continue on. It was nothing short of a glancing blow to pepper his verbal punches in bunches.
“I for one don’t see it that as being that one-sidedly. It’s a new day and age, there are far more credible trainers than people realize and we’ve come to benefit the best of the best. We’ve made it our mission to see those dreams realized and those opportunities cultivated even at the most clandestine moments. Even through the review and selection process I selected and assembled a group of people who might not mesh well, but they’ll learn it time they’ve got a common goal. They want to be the best at what they do and that’s the very fact of the matter. The people I selected are worth being selected, I took those who needed the only the best resources to succeed. They will succeed knowing that they’ve got one of the best in the business keeping their best interest in mind. From the moment we’re allowed to work with our groups, I know there’s going to be conflict and a struggle for power amongst them. I want that, some of them have little to no chance of surviving in this competition in my group or others, however much to the other camps credit at least those who aren’t cut out for this were trained by the best. They’ll make it somehow…” Most of that was said as a warning, though there was no one of significant there to heed it.
“Being frank, I took them with making things challenging in mind. I didn’t take on someone who impressed me with flashy kicks or was gifted with enough talent to be paroled by others as a surefire bet to win this thing. In knowing who I signed, I know some might flourish where others might falter and I’m okay with cutting them where they stand. This is wresting, it’s still a business at the end of the day and if you can’t cut it, what good are you to this industry? Everything done here at Crusade Academy is done by the book. I’m not telling you something you might not already know. We’ve got a clear vision set out ahead of us that we intend on following through to the bitter end, and it’s what this group of individuals makes of themselves. I’m not going out of my way dragging them kicking or screaming to the finish line, if they weren’t meant to make it, they just weren’t meant to make it.”
To hell with actually giving a damn past being their head trainer he might’ve thought, building ties that mind was one thing but he wasn’t interested in keeping them afloat for too long with just his sheer willpower along. They needed the want to be talented. He was going to make them face facts, black and white if you will. As clear as day as he could ever get them to realize, this undertaking was so far one of the biggest ventures he’d soon often feel if they hadn’t performed to their fullest of potentials.
“That also brings me to the likelihood that often seems to bring about tension, I know the trainers and coaches of each of the camps may be chomping at the bit to get in there and handle whatever issues they might have with rival camps. That’s fine with me I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m here to win. I won’t stop at nothing to win, because I’m a winner and I always win no matter what…” He paused looking forward as he brought his wrists up first unbuttoning his left cuff and then his right, seemingly effortlessly without hesitation. Rollin them up he continued to push through his statement accordingly.
“Speaking of likelihood, I won’t even hesitate to get my hands dirty either. If that means obliterating each and every one of those coaches or their students single-handedly to see my camp win out, so be it. Trust me, I’m not stranger of being people’s asses – Just ask Nic Virtue – I’m sure he remembers a few beatings, I’ll get the job done no matter if you like it or not. I won’t sit here and allowed a single camp to gain any type of advantage over my students, and I’ll make damn sure of it.”
He wanted to make it know he wasn’t going to take any anything from anybody with that last statement. He was already tired of the mind games that already appeared by the CEO of ACE to begin with, already he wanted to rip someone’s head and use it to kick the immaculate strike that won him far more respect than people had imagined.
“Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got an early brunch with a group of models to attend.” Cavallari adjusted his sunglasses before taking leave of the podium, wasn’t long before cameras seemed to commemorate the first step in Crusade Academy’s existence to put everybody on notice.
